Our key products are natural sea sponges. Market research revealed that many people had only used synthetic sponges, primarily for dishwashing. When we asked them if they’d prefer a natural sponge, they all agreed, assuming it was better since it’s natural.
That’s true, but natural sea sponges have many remarkable properties that deserve more attention.
First, they’re a zero-waste product. Sponges grow naturally, decompose when disposed of, and we use biodegradable packaging, eliminating waste.
Second, being natural and chemical-free makes them gentle on the skin. They’re hypoallergenic, ideal for sensitive skin, especially young babies.
But the pore structure of these sponges is where the magic happens.
This incredible system of pores allows soap, creams, and gels to be absorbed into the sponge along with water simply by squeezing your hand while bathing. Another squeeze reveals a rich lather from its tube-like structures. A few more squeezes under clear water rinse out all the soap effortlessly.
Allowing water and air to flow through keeps the sponge self-cleaning and inhibits bacterial growth, maintaining its fresh scent.
This is a noticeable advantage over washable cotton makeup wipes, a great eco-friendly alternative to disposables. Cotton fibers are dense, taking much longer to dry than a sponge, so they inherently stay damp for longer. This dampness encourages bacterial growth, leading to unpleasant odors.
Additionally, cotton’s dense fiber structure makes removing embedded bacteria, grease, or makeup incredibly difficult and requires more energy than a simple rinse with a natural sponge.
In contrast, synthetic sponges created from petroleum products or cotton-based wipes with a significant water footprint are the best cleansing tools we’ve created. However, nature has gifted us with the amazing and efficient pore system of natural sea sponges.
