Do We Sell Menstrual Sponges?

Menstrual Sponges?

Let’s clarify something: we don’t sell menstrual sponges.

Well, we do, but we don’t.

The extra high-quality Mediterranean Silk sponges we stock are actually “IntimateCare Sponges.” Yes, we acknowledge that they’re commonly known as menstrual sponges, but that’s not our official name. These sponges are far more than that. They’re natural, hypoallergenic, and highly absorbent sea sponges that can be confidently used for various intimate applications.

We have customers who insert sponges (or even two) to support prolapse, users who combine them with vaginal moisturizers, and individuals who use them to absorb blood during period sex. There’s even a list of other uses that goes on.

But we don’t say all that.

Why is that? Well, the American FDA, along with other regulatory bodies worldwide, have strict regulations regarding medical devices. In the USA, sanitary products are classified as medical devices. Pessaries used to assist with prolapse fall under the same category. Simply stating that a sea sponge used with natural Aloe Vera could enhance vaginal hydration might be considered an “unsupported medical claim.” This is something we or Natural Intimacy would never want to do. Similarly, suggesting that firmly inserted sea sponges could support a prolapse would also be an “unsupported medical claim.”

We prefer to keep things simple. We offer the highest quality Mediterranean and Caribbean Silk sea sponges, which we call IntimateCare sponges. Ultimately, it’s just a sponge, so you can use it as you see fit.

If you’re considering inserting anything vaginally, whether it’s a natural sponge or a regular tampon, it’s crucial to understand the risks of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). This website may provide helpful information.
